Fort Worth Youth Pastor Killed In Icy Crash
(CBS 11 News)
FORT WORTH
Hundreds of teenagers are mourning the loss of a north Texas youth pastor who was killed in a one-car crash over the weekend.
David
Phillips, with Christ Chapel Bible Church in Fort Worth, died Sunday
morning after leaving his Aledo home, headed to church.
According
to the Texas Department of Public Safety the accident happened before
8:00 a.m. on westbound I-20 at the 420 entrance ramp, in Parker County.
The 39-year-old pastor had a master of divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth.
The
chief operating officer of the church, Rick Neves, said Phillips, who
was married and had no children, was the only one in the car.
Officials say Phillips was thrown from his vehicle and was not wearing a seat belt.
"Kids
naturally are going to be disappointed and have some questions about
why does something like that happen, just like everybody does." Neves
said.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
